a mini vacation in Grandbury, Texas

Our vacation was a mini get-away for many reasons. Aaron decided to work through our vacation, can't blame him money is important when you want an electric guitar. Emily played volleyball twice during our get away. Jared mostly just wanted to swim. We ate a great burger at Grump's, a hamburger joint we discovered on an earlier road trip. Aaron was ever entertaining and decided to see how many peanuts he could stuff in his mouth. I have pictures but they are very, well just let's say not pretty. We saw this old house on the way back and I had to grab a few shots. This is the Wright, Duncan, Henderson House. It has three names due to the three owners that built on to it. The Nutt House well it just fits! Notice the 3 little nuts sitting out front. The true excitment of our trip came after the saying just one more time. I will never ever allow anyone to do something just one last time if it is in any way dangerous. Aaron was getting pretty good at the knee board, crossing the wake and such until he somehow became airborne and well the board and his nose connected. What a bloody mess he was! It sort of knocked him silly too I think. We ended up in the ER and yes it's broken. We go to an ENT on Tuesday to get an opinion about what needs to be done next. And that is how our trip ended. We packed up the next morning and came home. Grandbury is a charming little town.

Morgan & Seth

Morgan and Seth are expecting as you can see. Stetson is due to arrive in about 8 weeks. Morgan is radiant and Seth is so loving. Nothing more beautiful than a pregnant woman and I can see it in Seth's eyes that he adores Morgan. Morgan and Seth are special to me because they are my "firsts"! First bridal, wedding, maternity and yep can't wait first newborn shoot when Stetson gets here! This was my first indoor shoot. i really enjoyed it and tried hard to see where the light was going. Thanks Morgan and Seth!

Friends...Emily & Cathy

Had a fun morning with these two. A bit too much sun but it was fun anyway. The purple flowers in Cathy's field are spectacular, not sure what they are but Texas Bluebellcomes to mind.

Cathy and Emily have been friends for 3 years, since we moved to Venus. So sweet, Emily and I both love her!

Brandi & Jorge

I photographed the wedding of Brandi and Jorge in the end of May. I loved the shots down on the river bottom and in the field of flowers. I could have shot forever but the father of the bride had one comment that kept me moving....keep your eyes out for SNAKES!!! Well back to the safety of Grandma's backyard for the nervous bride and photographer. Brandi and Jorge have great families. I was easily able to remember some of Jorge's family and friends because it was just Carlos...father, brother and bestman! What a fun day!

Jodel Phillips Photography

I really need to sit down and see how many weddings I have been to in the past few years. I love second shooting with Kristin Bednarz. She has been so generous with herself, teaching me and giving me advice in exchange for bottle caps candies. I bring them with whenever I second shoot for her..small price to pay for the valuable experience she shares with me. She has been very motivating for me, giving me pushes..gently mind you. Thanks Kristin! promise to bring the bottle caps on the 15th!
Another fourth of July has come and gone. Jared was thrilled to be able to shoot fireworks last night at the volunteer fire department stand near town. Even more so when I handed him $20 to spend. It was loud, smokey and kinda scarry. Amateurs with artillery shells and such...boom they would suddenly fall over and shoot horizontal. Made it just a bit more fun for Jared and just a bit more nervewracking for mom. I shall post some pictures at another time..this dial up system is for the birds. Can't wait till the 14.....BROADBAND!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Fourth a bit late everyone!
